I've can only replicate it in this specific script. Printing a space to the console causes a new line. Though replacing with any other character, such as an underscore in my example, doesn't cause this issue

Is this code line for line printed out, or is it just one line? It looks like its a very long string of characters, without line breaks.
If it's one line, I would try to work with \n on the end.
Can you maybe post the part of the script which is causing this?

Each character is printed separately with sys.print() and then when they reach character 55 it prints a \n for the next line

It has to be a bug, why would it print an underscore char correctly and not a space char
